The development features a diverse mix of housing, including smaller starter homes and larger family residences, arranged in a series of adjoining townhouses and terraces.

These homes are accessed through smaller cul-de-sacs and shared spaces, providing safe play areas for children.

The village green serves as the central communal space, promoting a healthy lifestyle and offering passive supervision from surrounding dwellings.

Bridge Street, Stockport

Our client owned several small shops in Stockport’s Underbank area, each with multiple floors of underused space. By reimagining the spaces between these buildings, we established a new access route to the apartments. This innovative approach preserved the original architectural features, such as roof trusses, resulting in spacious and well-proportioned living areas free from intrusive circulation routes.

The client now boasts a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments that are fully rented, successfully revitalizing this part of Stockport and transforming it into a vibrant residential area.

Mather Mill, Wigan

We are currently working on a project involving the restoration and conversion of an old disused mill into a modern up to date residential complex.

The project will consist of a basement car park along with five levels of apartments and gym facilities. It will serve to regenerate the area creating a stylish living complex close to the town centre.

Alma Street, Wigan

The Alma Street residential development is a regeneration project aimed at revitalising an existing brownfield site in Tyldesley. architecture:m envisioned a dynamic housing scheme featuring a mix of semi-detached dwellings, terraced townhouses, and apartments to promote multigenerational living standards.

This thoughtful regeneration project aims to breathe new life into the site, creating a vibrant and inclusive community that respects the existing urban fabric while introducing contemporary design elements.

The Reach, Thamesmead

Architecture M was appointed to look at two units on the site that were originally designated as a supermarket. Three levels of affordable apartments (that started at £113,000) were added above the ground floor level of each unit to create an internal street. The street was planted with tall bamboo to accentuate the crescent form of the plan, whilst affording privacy to the opposing apartments.

Commenting on winning the award, David Mitchell, Tilfen Land’s project manager for The Reach said: “We were delighted to win this prestigious award… ensuring that effective sustainable development was combined with the highest levels of design and architecture.”

School Lane. Didsbury

Architecture:M have proposed the redevelopment of 86-90 School Lane in Didsbury by demolishing the existing redundant 1930's retail space, which currently makes little of its site and is in great need of development just to be made good. The building will contain three ground floor commercial units all accessed off School Lane, with two two-bed apartments and one four-bed duplex apartment on the floors above, accessed from Ladysmith Road.

The new structure revitalizes this corner plot by creating a dynamic form which aims to reinvigorate the currently undervalued site. This proposal references the local context through massing, materiality and by accentuating the local building line of School Lane and Ladysmith Road, which provides this dynamic. This is a contemporary architectural solution and given the twee bay-windows and pitched roofs seen in much of the area, it may have been easier to sleepwalk into an uninspiring building that copied this approach.
